Political Autobiographies

In the sixteenth programme from the series "Il-Politika fil-Letteratura," Dr Mario Thomas Vassallo and I discuss political autobiographies with a particular emphasis on Maltese autobiographies. The subjective agenda-driven nature of autobiographies helps the reader understand both the person and the context of various political events.

The texts chosen for this programme include extracts from the following autobiographies: Sir Arturo Mercieca's "Le Mie Vicende" (1943), Lino Spiteri's "Jien u Ghaddej Mill-Politika" (2007), Henry Coppini's "Castille Behind the Scenes" (2008), Oliver Friggieri's "Fjuri li ma jinxfux" (2008), Ugo Mifsud Bonnici's "Konvinzjoni u Esperjenza" (2015) and Barack Obama's "The Audacity of Hope" (2006).
