Pope Francis' Foreign Trips

In my monthly column for Il-Lehen (25.VI.2017), I write (in Maltese) about Pope Francis' first trips of 2017 . In April, Pope Francis visited the persecuted church in Egypt while in May he visited the site of the 1917 Marian apparition in Fatima. In his second trip, he canonised the two shepherd-children of Fatima.

I conclude that, such trips remind us of the 'catholicity' of the Church - a universal reality which is larger than our own parish or diocese.
