Christian Democratic ideals

In my piece for Share Magazine (September 2018), I look at the Christian Democratic ideals that shaped modern Europe. Unlike the other dominant ideas of the 20th century, Christian Democracy has no big theory, no big book and no grand narrative. It is best described as a set of principles or ideas rather than an ideology. It is hard to pigeonhole in the left-right political spectrum. It is mostly a form of inoffensive centrism which has, thus, drawn support (and criticism) from both the left and the right.

I will be delivering a five-lecture course on this subject every Monday, from the 12th November till the 10th December for Philosophy Sharing Foundation. More details are available on the Foundation's website.
