A new European Commission

The President-Elect of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the composition of the new European Commission (2019 - 2024).

In my piece (in Maltese) for Il-Lehen (22/IX/2019), I argue that Ursula von der Leyen's Commission offers nothing new nor substantial for the future of the European Union.

Her nomination, in complete disregard of the spitzenkandidaten process, reveals some of the weaknesses of the EU's institutional architecture and some of her appointments are somewhat nebulous.
