'Non laborat qui amat'

Together with the Rev Dr Jonathan Farrugia and the Rev Prof Hector Scerri, I was honoured to edit “Non laborat qui amat” – a festschrift honouring the Rev. Prof. Salvino Caruana O.S.A. on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

This festschrift includes fifteen papers on St Augustine’s life, theology and philosophy. It has congratulatory messages by the late Cardinal Prospero Grech, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, the Augustinian Prior-General Fr Alejandro Moral Antón and the Prior-Provincial Fr Leslie Gatt.

Fr Caruana is a former Professor of Patristics within the Faculty of Theology of the University of Malta and the present Director of the Augustinian Institute (Malta). He joined the Order of St Augustine in 1968 and was ordained priest by Pope St Paul VI in 1975. He is the author of various books and monographs on St Augustine and Augustinian spirituality. Throughout his distinguished career, he oversaw the translation into Maltese of various works of St Augustine.

The book is divided into five themes; “Theology, Christology and Mariology,” “Anthropology,” “Christian Living,” “Augustine’s Conversion,” and “Pastoral Application.”

The book will be launched tomorrow, January 3, at 6.00pm at St Augustine's College, Pieta'.
