Sir Roger Scruton (1944 - 2020)

Sir Roger Scruton died on Sunday 12 January 2020. In my piece for The Times of Malta (16.I.2020), I pay tribute to a man I consider to be an intellectual hero; a quintessential English public intellectual who was never parochial; and a conservative whose intellect cannot be boxed in by politically-loaded broad definitions:

"It is for our generation to ask that all-important question: how do we hold onto what has been passed on to us?

Whether he discusses beauty and the aesthetics of architecture, the heritage of the West, faith, and the environment, Scruton always held on to his most profound conviction that what is right in the world should not be lost to the whims of the present."
