Afghanistan: A Prisoner of its Past

Kabul fell to Taliban forces. In my piece for The Sunday Times of Malta (22.VIII.2021), I argue that Afghanistan is a country which is a prisoner to its history.

I argue that, "the current political situation cannot be adequately explained by merely focusing on the political aspects. Indeed, economics and history tell us far more about the current situation than political commentary ever could."
