The Forgotten Freedom

The university remains one of the last surviving medieval institutions which shaped much of the intellectual heritage of Europe. In my piece for The Sunday Times of Malta (27.XII.2020), I argue that academic freedom is sacrosanct. Several other freedoms - including democracy itself - depend on its continuation and on our ability to ask uncomfortable and difficult questions.
